How to straighten your human hair wig

How to straighten your human hair wig.

Knowing how to straighten your human hair wig or topper can make the world of difference in not only how it looks, but also in how much easier it is to manage up until the next wash is due.

In today's blog post we will be learning the following ....

  •  Tools needed when you straighten your human hair wig.
  • How to section for easy straightening of your human hair wig.
  • Perfecting your straightening technique.

Are you ready to jump straight in? Great! Let's get started ...

Step 1: Make sure you have the correct tools.

Before you even pick up your straighteners you need to make sure you are properly prepared and have all the things you'll need to hand.

My go to tools are the following ....

  • A comb
  • Sectioning clips
  • A care head, clamp and T pins so I can pin my wig to the care head
  • My straighteners
  • A heat protection mat

Step 2: Section and de-tangle.

Take your comb and, starting from the bottom of your wig (this could be in the back or at the sides) section out an Inch or so layer of hair. Clip the rest of the hair up above and out of the way.

Comb through the section you are going to start straightening and make sure there are no tangles.

Step 3: Straighten.

This is the stage where people usually start to get a little scared!

There really is no need to feel nervous. Once you've done this a few times you'll be straightening out your wig or topper with out even thinking about it.

Take an Inch wide section and start to move your irons down the length of the hair. Try not to linger, always keep your hair straighteners moving.

Use your comb to "catch" the section of hair as your straighteners come to the end of each section.

Repeat step 3 across this section and then simply section down more hair and continue.
